The part that made me put the book down was when John recounted a story where he bought two properties sight unseen. It feels like a collection of unedited blog posts collated together in a slapdash manner. Lastly he handles subjects like wasting time, building habits and how to get and stay going. Like the book said, I really hope you find this post useful . There is more than just your career and it makes conscious effort to cover additional aspects of your whole life as a developer, such as finances, character traits, professionalism, fitness etc. I believe that John's approach is quite unique and maybe the beginning of a whole series of books that could spill out in other professions such as "The surgeon's life manual" etc. iOS Mobile Forensics – How do they do it – Series Part one. Sonmez.Through this blog post, I’ll to share my honest thoughts about the book in hopes that other developers will find it useful. The book emphasizes a balance on being a successful software developer, but it's not for everyone. Also this book got me interested in developing a portfolio, following the right people and heck, even getting a blog and writing a blog post. So I was pleasantly surprised when this book crossed my path on a list of books that were suggested by a fellow software engineer.
